come in alone presents shoegaze at ACU
following up on two sold out shows, come in alone returns on september 12th to bring the best of dutch shoegaze to acu. magnoliac, nebenschau and death by audio are bringing dreamy distortion, hypnotic noise and reverbed guitar sounds, each with a unique take on the shoegaze sound. it promises to be a glorious, extremely loud show – bring hearing protection!
formed in April of 2024, magnoliac has been gracing crowds with their introspective dreampop, gentle indierock and earblistering shoegaze. with a wide array of influences, it’s hard to put magnoliac under specific genres: with hints of the post-punk classics of joy division and interpol, the heavenly guitar noise of my bloody valentine and slowdive, the ambient masterpieces of brian eno, and the “comfort-food indie” vibes of dayglow & alvvays, every magnoliac song is refreshing yet still unmistakeably their own sound.
formed in zwolle, the netherlands in 2019, nebenschau quickly made aname for themselves with their blend of shoegaze , 90’s alternative, dreampop and grunge. The band’s self-titled debut album was released in 2020 to critical acclaim, with many praising the band’s ability to seamlessly create a sound that was both nostalgic and fresh. In march 2025 nebenschau released their new ep, simply called II. it contains the singles “bermuda”, “out here” and “proof”. nebenschau is at its best during live shows, in which heavy distorted guitars alternate with castles of reverb and delay.
death by audio sounds like a combination of the bands they say are their influences: ride, the cure, slowdive, the jesus and mary chain, interpol, but adding a slice of post-rock/postpunk to the mix. their newly recorded ep beautiful parasite shows the direction this band is headed for. bustery, drowsy love songs packed with autumny dejection. the band presents their music in a haunting and intrusive manner.
